The Lowdown on Thin-Film Solar Panels

Thin-film solar panels can be compared to paper. They are super thin. The manufacturing process of these solar panels uses materials such as copper to make up the photo voltaic cells, which are the cells responsible for absorbing the rays of the sun. There are two different types of thin-film solar panels.

Rigid thin-film solar panels have parts that are all manufactured together. The cells are made on a glass background piece. The wiring that connects it all together is generally done as soon as the cells are completed. Amorphous silicon is used in the manufacture of the solar panels because it has a highly productive energy conversion rate. Rigid solar panels can be used for homes and businesses. They can be used for garages. Rigid solar panels can be mounted anywhere that is mostly level.

Flexible thin-film solar panels are the opposite of the rigid panels. Where the rigid solar panels have solid bases, as in the glass backing of the cells, the flexible solar panels have flexible bases. Flexible solar panels have a variety of uses. They can be used for your home, especially when the mounting surface has an odd shape. They can be used for camping and hunting purposes. They can be adapted to just about any surface.

Before you make a choice, you should research all the available solar panel systems thoroughly. You need to find a system that is best suited for what you want to use it for and how much power you need to generate.
